Mouthguards
THE IMPORTANCE OF WEARING A GOOD MOUTHGUARD
A split lip will heal but broken teeth won't. Did you know that teeth are the least capable part of the human body to repair themselves after an injury? The dental treatment required to repair damaged teeth or replace missing teeth is both time consuming and expensive.
Being accidentally caught in the face by a squash racket or lacrosse stick, or falling awkwardly across showjumping poles, can cause more damage to the teeth than any blow from a boxing glove.
BOIL AND BITE VERSUS CUSTOM MADE MOUTHGUARDS
Boxing is thought to have been the first sport to use Gumshields
or Tooth Guards as they were then called. The original Gumshield or
Toothguard was no more than a pre-formed rubber rim that fitted over
the top teeth.
Boil and Bite Mouthguards are another type of Mouthguard which are
placed in boiling water and then moulded to the tooth arch. However
they tend to thin out in the very areas where protection is required
and also be of a loose fit which may cause them to become dislodged
and trapped in the airway causing suffocation.
Playsafe Custom Made Mouthguards are better as they are made to moulds taken of the players upper and lower tooth arches by a dentist. Because they are individually moulded to casts of the players' teeth they fit securely, which means they don't move and will minimise any restriction in breathing and speaking.
PLAYSAFE MOUTHGUARDS are RECOGNISED AS THE BEST
Playsafe Mouthguards are custom made from moulds taken by a dentist of your top and bottom tooth arches, using several layers of different plastics which are pressure laminated together like laminated glass so as to make a very impact absorbing mouthguard.
Independent Tests by The Open University Materials Engineering Dept demonstrated that the Heavy Playsafe Mouthguard was more protective than any other mouthguard tested
